We wanted to find out more about our graphics and artworking team, so we sat down with Jason Robinson to find out more about his background and what he gets up to in the team.

Can you tell me a little bit about your background and when you joined BDH Tullford?

I was in the army originally, serving for the Household Cavalry. While I was there I became interested in websites and coding. This was at a time when websites were still starting out. They were static and built with tables, and I just really enjoyed playing around with computers.

In 2002 I therefore did an HTML course and took part in some training for digital marketing as well as for repro printing. When I broke my leg, I was medically discharged from the army. After doing some website work elsewhere, I joined BDH Tullford in 2014/2015.

What does your role at BDH Tullford involve?

It involves a bit of everything really. On a typical day I do some basic design, check the artwork for clients and get everything print ready. My role also involves looking after the webshops for clients, making plates for the presses and film for screen printing. I’ve used my web skills to work on the build for the BDH website too.

What are the most challenging parts of the job?

Timing is certainly challenging! I have to juggle work everyday, switching between getting things ready for print and organising new jobs.

What are the best bits about your job?

Completing something that you’ve set up and gotten ready to go out the door is very satisfying. A lot of the work we have is also really interesting and different projects have different challenges. BDH Tullford is also a very relaxed place to work and my coworkers are nice.

What do you do outside of work?

I have a nine-year-old son so I spend a lot of time with him and playing football. I’m also a typical man and like anything with an engine, so I love cars! Porsches are my favourite and I’m lucky enough to drive one myself.
