Owned by The Toro Company, a leader in landscape and outdoor equipment, Hayter is a British manufacturer of premium lawn mowers. Since 1946, the company has supplied garden equipment to customers across the UK from its base in Hertfordshire.
During that time, Hayter has gained an enviable reputation for supplying outstanding products to individuals and businesses. It has held a Royal Warrant for the supply of horticultural equipment to Her Majesty the Queen since 1960.
BDH Tullford is proud to have a long relationship with Hayter, having collaborated on a diverse range of projects since 2012. In that time, we have produced everything from pavement signs and wall flags to double-sided window decals and floor mats for the brand.
The Challenge
Hayter sells lawn mowers via outlets and resellers up and down the UK. In order to deliver the high-quality Hayter experience its customers expect, the company’s marketing team works closely with its dealers to create branded showrooms that display products to great effect.
That’s why Hayter turned to BDH Tullford for displays and collateral for A J Mowers in Bristol. As a blank canvas, the showroom was ready for a splash of colour and aspirational imagery.
One of the core challenges faced by A J Mowers’s showroom was the division of customer-facing and staff areas. As such, they needed an attractive and innovative way to restrict access to behind-the-scenes spaces.
The Solution
It’s important to note that the revamp project began just before the UK entered lockdown in 2020. Although the Hayter and BDH Tullford teams were in close communication from the start of the project, work couldn’t begin in earnest until the lockdown eased.
As restrictions started to lift, the teams organised a joint visit to A J Mowers, in order to conduct a site survey in a safe, socially distanced way.
The survey was used to discuss both clients’ needs, before assessing the space and measuring up. This information was used to draft a detailed proposal for A J Mowers, which was presented to the Hayter marketing team for feedback and input.
When the full scope of the project had been agreed and the costs signed off, BDH Tullford worked closely with A J Mowers to create the graphics and produce the displays.
Installation took 3 days in total and saw branded wallpaper installed, alongside gondola end panels, large format graphics and signs throughout the site. Contravision one-way graphics were also applied to the windows at the front of the building.
The Results
The A J Mowers showroom was transformed, with bright, professional graphics and consistent branding throughout.
The stock areas were disguised by cleverly deploying large format graphics to create an optical illusion. A large lifestyle image was printed and installed on the wall, to which racking was attached.
The ends of the racking were then covered with an image, which corresponded with the section of photo obscured by the racking. When facing the wall, the racking blends into the wall; when standing at an angle, the storage area reappears.
