This is a question we get asked a lot, but there isn’t a definitive answer, unfortunately. The price of a point of purchase (POP) display is dependent on a wide variety of factors. They come in a range of different shapes and sizes and can be constructed from an array of materials, all of which affect the price.

In this article, we take a look at the factors affecting the price of POP displays, so you’re prepared for your next project.

POP Display Size

The size of your POP display can affect the price because of the amount of material required to construct it. The amount of material needed to make a 6ft free-standing display, for instance, is will be larger than that required for a counter-top unit. As a result, the latter is likely to be cheaper to produce.

Display Materials

How you’re planning to use your display is likely to affect the materials used. And the materials used will affect the price of the finished item.

Cardboard

Corrugated cardboard is often the cheapest material for POP displays. Cardboard is easy to make, can be printed in full-colour and cut quickly, so production times are fast. Plus, it’s light, which makes it easy to transport.

While that sounds ideal, bear in mind that cardboard isn’t particularly durable, so it’s best used for temporary displays. If you want to add a little extra strength (and a shiny finish) laminate coatings can be applied and mop trays added. Just remember that these will add to the cost.

Plastic & Acrylic

Again, plastic is light and easy to transport. It’s also more durable than cardboard and can be wiped down if it gets dirty, so it’s ideal for more permanent and outdoor use. At BDH Tullford, we can digital, screen and litho print onto plastic, so your plastic POP display can be fully branded.

Metal

Metal displays tend to be at the higher end of the price scale. Although they are more expensive they tend to have a longer lifespan and may even be a permanent branded fixture, which can be reused to promote different items over many years.

Custom POP Design

While lots of POP displays are available ready-made – you upload your artwork to a template when you order – if you’re looking for something unique, a custom POP display is for you.

In this case, you’ll need to factor in the cost of working with a graphic designer to create something tailored to your business and products.

Quantity

Of course, the number of items you order affects the price. As with most costs, economies of scale play into the final price. The more you order, the lower the cost per item.

Warehousing & Distribution

Don’t forget to consider the cost of delivery when ordering POP displays.

Thankfully, most suppliers can deliver items wherever they’re needed, whether that’s your head office, your own outlets or your stockists.

If you’re planning ahead, and don’t need your POP displays right away, we offer a warehousing service. We’ll deliver your order at the time and place that you need them.
