Educational resources for pupils cross the UK
Based in Lowestoft, Eastpoint supplies high-quality learning and educational aids to schools and classrooms across the UK. From dry wipe boards to pens, pencils and even laminators, they equip classrooms with vital tools and equipment.
Having worked with Eastpoint since 2014, BDH Tullford has supplied a variety of different products to the company over the years.
The relationship began when Eastpoint started looking for a new producer of mini dry wipe boards.
Having previously sourced PVC dry wipe boards from another company, they discovered that the printer’s ink, used for lines and grids, reacted with the ink from the dry wipe pens.
Seeking an alternative, Eastpoint started working with BDH Tullford to develop a polyprop product that could be printed with lines and grids and cut into shape.
Together, they developed a polyprop dry wipe board suitable for use in homes and classrooms across the country.
“We’ve got to know the team at BDH Tullford really well over the years, especially [Director] David Hutchins,” says Dan Francis, Operations Team Leader at Eastpoint. “They tried lots of different prototypes to find the right finish.
“Because we’re both based in East Anglia, David would call when the prototype was on the printer and invite me to come over and see the finished product.”
During 2020, the pandemic had a big impact on Eastpoint’s education business. With schools across the country closing almost overnight, demand for educational resources disappeared. However, as schools returned, they found that demand returned and was higher than ever before to make up for lost time.
“We have been extremely busy due to market demand and continue working closely with BDH Tullford to ensure we meet client needs!” says Dan. “David and Paul, who handles our day-to-day projects, keeps us up-to-date with orders, explaining when we can expect things. That allows us to manage our supply chain and customer expectations.”
Eastpoint’s polyprop dry wipe boards are now being used by students across the UK to great success.
“BDH Tullford is always looking for ways to improve the surface of the dry wipe boards as well as the quality of the print,” adds Dan. “It means we can be sure of delivering the very highest quality to classrooms.”
Given the success of the project, BDH Tullford now also produces other products and signage for Eastpoint – most notably Foamex educational aids for playgrounds, designed to inspire young during school breaks.
